Explain Something To Me

According to this article, Kos (who authors the blog DailyKos.com) is bad for the Democratic Party. I suppose that fact can be debated but what is really bothering me is this particular remark:

He claims that his blog receives over a million hits a day, but I contest that figure. If you check the Daily Kos's hit meter, the numbers have been steadily going down since October. It appears that now the site gets somewhere between a third and half of what they say it gets. Could the Daily Kos possibly be making false advertising claims?

Now according to the stat counter the author links to, here is Kos’s hit counter:

Am I retarded or does that say Kos’s May 2006 visits were somewhere around 15,000,000?

I’ll concede that his visits have dropped since October, although now where near the third and half of what they say it gets that the author claims.

Let’s try some math…

According to Wiki,

One million (1,000,000), or one thousand thousand, is the natural number following 999,999 and preceding 1,000,001.

Now, I’m not what you would call a “math” person, but if I am reading this graph correctly, the “one million” hits a day mark is…well not to be found. Apparently it is too low to warrant its own notch.

Now let’s try to knock out some basic division. According to my handy dandy calculator, one third of one million is 333,333. Another number that is too tiny to garner a notation on the graph. One half of one million is 500,000 and that also is too lowly.

Is this author incompetent? Or am I missing the satire in the article?

Let it be the latter.
